Orchestrated Infestations
an invasion
Eyes are enigmatic glass orbs disguised as ‘vision granters’. The bushy eyebrows that frame them and the lashes that flutter with each twitch and rustle to bat away the envious debris attempting to slip through are the perfect embellishments for the twinkling crystals.
These defences that stand guard, however, often leave their precious orb unattended.
This explains why the ambitious flies face no hardship when sneaking inside.
They flap dainty wings and grasp the porcelain surface ferociously enough to leave an angry and slightly dented mark, pinching their oblivious victim and vying for vengeance.
Steeling themselves, the spiteful creatures target the dilated pupil and hurry in before the next blink.
Making it in, they surreptitiously misplace the meticulously arranged nerves, creating intrinsic chaos.
Once they deem it right to cease fumbling with the complex system, they bury themselves in a hollow corner and revel in their masterpiece.
A theatrical show produced by the malicious claws of a hexapod is played in the mind’s eye, deeply triggering involuntary spasms and tremors of the limbs.
The projected thespians replicate, transforming the prey’s primitive serenity into turmoil. They relish the continuously circulating fluids and batten on the remains, which quiet their ravenous appetite.
The mind gradually breaks apart and fights back the horrifically vivid fears deftly performed by a minuscule brain.
Ultimately, the inevitable blink hurls the heinous insects out, washing away the disturbing infestation of a rehearsed and long-dreaded fear with salty beads from the eerily burgeoning orbs.
In return, the heels of the prey’s sweaty hands press desperately against the spongy spheres, attempting to banish his revered vision and another life-threatening ordeal.
